MOST FREQUENT QUESTIONS

RAW HONEY VS. CLASSIC HONEY?

Raw honey is pure, unfiltered and unpasteurized, made by bees from the nectar of flowers. Subsequently, it is only rolled through a sieve into glasses. It is not modified in any way. That is why it retains so many beneficial substances.

Regular honey usually goes through a number of different processes after being harvested. At a minimum, pasteurization occurs by heating to very high temperatures. What makes it lose all the important substances in honey, such as bee propolis, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, antioxidants and other substances.

Raw honey typically offers more health benefits than regular honey due to minimal processing (not to mention the absence of added sweeteners). Pasteurization and filtration processes can remove bee pollen, bee propolis, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, antioxidants and other substances that provide nutritional benefits.

WHY ARE BEES IMPORTANT? 🐝

Pollination is the process that ensures the transfer of pollen from the flower stamens to the stigmas of the flower. And bees are one of the most efficient pollinators in nature. Once the bee lands on the flower, it collects the nectar and the pollen grain sticks to its hair. Then the bee moves to the next flower and transfers the pollen to its stigma. This process is essential for plant reproduction and seed formation.

It is reported that the honey bee is responsible for pollinating 60% of the food we eat. That is why it is so important to us and the entire biodiversity on the planet.

In agriculture, bee pollination is irreplaceable. Many crops such as apples, cherries, apricots, cucumbers and many others require bee pollination to achieve full yield. Beekeepers and their bee colonies thus become important partners for farmers. Without sufficient pollination, crop yields would decrease and farmers would face losses.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF OUR PROJECT?

Our raw honey is produced in South Moravia, in the Czech Republic, by organically raised bees. It is a beautiful and rare resource with significantly higher levels of enzymes and antibacterial properties than found in other honeys.

Raw honey, or honey in its raw state, has recently become more and more popular. This type of honey is minimally processed and thus preserves all the natural substances contained in it. Enzymes, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial substances are still present in raw honey. Consuming it can provide many health benefits, including supporting the immune system, improving digestion, and providing antioxidants.

WHAT TO DO WHEN HONEY CRYSTALLISES? 🍯

You don't need to worry when the honey crystallizes, as this is a normal process for quality honeys. Crystallization of honey is caused by the content of natural sugar, especially glucose. We recommend that when the honey crystallizes, it is gently warmed in a water bath. Just make sure that the water is not too hot, 40°C is optimal. This process will liquefy the honey again, and you will be able to enjoy its liquid consistency. Crystallization is proof of quality, as honey that contains more natural substances is likely to crystallize faster. This is an advantage, because crystallized honey has a greater concentration of beneficial substances.

WHAT DOES ORGANIC BEEKEEPING MEAN?

Ecological beekeeping is a unique approach that combines interest in bees with care for nature. At David's Organic Bee Farm, we are passionate about organic beekeeping and are happy to introduce this sustainable and environmentally friendly form of beekeeping. In this article, we will focus on the benefits of organic beekeeping and how each individual can contribute to the improvement of bee populations and nature conservation.

Organic beekeeping emphasizes natural and sustainable practices. In organic bee farms, the use of chemicals and pesticides that can harm bees and the environment is minimized. Instead, natural methods of caring for the bees are used and they are provided with an environment rich in flowering plants that serve as food for them.

One of the main benefits of organic beekeeping is the protection of bee populations. Thanks to ecological procedures, we minimize negative effects on bees and their environment. Bee populations have a stable and healthy environment, which contributes to their long-term survival and the protection of biodiversity.

Another important aspect of ecological beekeeping is the support of the natural environment. Creating biodiverse habitats for bees and supporting flowering plants contribute to maintaining a balance in the natural environment. Organic beekeeping also supports a healthy ecosystem, which is the basis for the prosperity of other animals and plants.

LYOPHRIED FRUIT IN HONEY?

Why did we decide to combine freeze-dried fruit with our honey? Because it brings not only a delicious taste combination, but also provides exceptional properties and benefits for our health.

Let's start with the freeze-dried blueberries. Blueberries are known for their rich content of antioxidants that help protect our body from free radicals and support heart health. These little blue berries are also a source of vitamin C and fiber, which is important for proper digestion. When you combine their benefits with our quality honey, you get a combination that is refreshing, sweet and beneficial for your body at the same time.

What about freeze-dried strawberries? They are known for their high content of vitamin C and other antioxidants. They contribute to strengthening the immune system and support skin health. Freeze-dried strawberries also contain fiber and vitamin K, which is important for proper blood clotting. The combination of sweet honey with the intense taste of freeze-dried strawberries is simply irresistible.

ORGANIC CERTIFICATION?

Our products are not certified organic, but we test all of our recipes by a third party for pesticides and heavy metals to ensure we use only the highest quality ingredients.

Because bees fly and collect nectar from areas in the vicinity up to 10 km away, we cannot guarantee that every flower from which they bring nectar is from certified BIO production, therefore the certificate does not have the same meaning as when buying vegetables or fruit. Additionally, most small, sustainable beekeepers cannot afford the certification process.

Larger commercial beekeepers who can afford certification often don't operate sustainably or treat their bees like family (like us). In addition, judge for yourself if it is realistically possible for them to be able to guarantee where their bees collect nectar? Keep this in mind the next time you buy honey.

Wildflower honey is a mixture of many flowers collected at different times of the year, giving it a unique taste with each new harvest.

Greater floral diversity provides our raw honey with more antioxidants, vitamins and minerals than monovarietal honey. Thanks to this, it retains 100% of all valuable substances.

The actual appearance and taste of honey may vary depending on the season's variety of brood. We simply let our bees function naturally in nature.
